Do Pools Add Value to a Home?
This is a question I get a lot. My simple answer is Yes. An appraiser usually values a pool between $8,000-$15,000. However, if the pool is in need of massive repairs, you may not get an value at all. In fact, if a pool needs a lot of work, a buyer may not be interested in the home at all. There is also the possibility that the buyers lender may require the pool to be in working condition in order for the buyers to obtain financing.
Living in Arizona a pool is one of the most popular features in a home. Many people won’t purchase a home that does not have one. On the same note, there are many buyers that won’t purchase a home with a pool.
Keep this in mind. If there are 2 identical homes for sale, one with a pool and one without a pool, chances are the home with a pool will sell faster and for more money. At least that has been my experience. I do believe pools add value and appeal to more buyers than people who do not want a pool.
